We are looking into perennial vegetable planting too. Milton Garden (Liddesdale Sq, Milton): Gardening/landscaping Sessions Tues & Wed, 10 – 3pm. This is a new project and the site still has a lot of infrastructure work requiring completion as well as community engagement. Work in the garden that is needing done; laying paving slabs, digging drainage trenches, digging a pond, raising the level of the earth to address drainage issues, laying a path, creating a seating area, putting up poly-tunnel. General gardening work planting edible foods and flowers in memorial garden site. A forest garden area will begin to be created starting Spring 2013. Hamiltonhill allotment (Ellesmere St entrance at top of hill, Possilpark): Sessions on Fridays 10am – 3pm Food growing begun in spring and continues throughout growing season. Volunteers have decided to create a wheel-chair accessible site by laying down a paved path and raising the beds so that wheel-chair users could access them easily. There is some extra muscle and careful joinery work needed at this site! Volunteers are the backbone of our organisation and are involved in all aspects of the organisation. We are keen to take on new volunteers. By volunteering with us you will meet a wide range of people from different cultures, learn new skills and have fun! You will also be supported by a Volunteer Coordinator and staff who lead activities. Interested in volunteering? Travel expenses offered and lunch provided at gardening sessions (As well as a good atmosphere to relax, learn and meet new people!) If you are interested in any of the volunteering options give Aileen a call for more information 0141 558 2500 or email.
