¤ Current affairs- 23/24 June ¤ 1) Which are the six forts of Rajasthan which were included in UNESCO’s World HeritageSites List on 21 June 2013? –Amber Fort (Jaipur), Chittorgarh Fort (Chittorgarh), Gagaron Fort (Jhalawar), Jaisalmer Fort (Jaisalmer), Kumbhalgarh Fort (Kumbhalgarh) and Ranthambhore Fort (Sawai Madhopur)– This announcement was made at the 37th Annual Session of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee (WHC) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 21 June. This distinction for Rajasthan forts was achieved after several missions of the International Council of Monuments and Forts (ICOMOS) visited Rajasthan, since 2011 to discuss for the nominations of the Forts. The ICOMOS discussed the nominations in great details, with the Indian Advisory Committee on World Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) and State Archeological Department.
