Cushinstown Athletic club held their annual indoors competition today, with a great turn out from Boyne A.C. for the first track and field event of the season. Almost 30 athletes took part on the day, with fantastic performances from each and every one. Calum Byrne took the first medal of the day in the sprints with a super silver medal finish in the tiny tots 30m race. Oliver Carolan was strides ahead in his u8 60m, easily taking gold, while Kate Culhane ran a great race to take bronze in the u8 girls event. Aoife Kane displayed some fine jumping skills in the u9 long jump to take home the silver medal. Alex Devine was also in the medals with a fine silver in the u10 60m, while Adam Byrne took bronze in the u11 sprint, despite a nasty fall at the finish line. Cathal Monaghan made it a double with a silver in both the u12 60m sprint and the u12 shot putt. Tara Meier achieved a new pb in the high jump, with a fantastic winning jump of 1.40m, much to the delight of the enthralled crowd, and then added a gold in the 60m sprint to her collection! Well done to everyone who took part - you are all super athletes!
