Customer Question: Hi! Hoping you can help me. ;-). Im looking for a good soft carrier and your chart was very helpful. What would you recommend that we buy from you based on the following: - our son is 4weeks old and is probably close to 10lbs. (Was born 8lbs 5oz, 20in) - Im 58, large breasts and around size 16 - my husband is 65 and has a lil baby weight too. :-) He is a good boy except in the evenings. We have discovered the witching hour and my girlfriend suggested getting a soft carrier for the evenings. We had gotten the ergo baby as a gift but thinking we need something else right now. Help? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- My answer: Hi! I would recommend the Pikkolo carrier for you, followed closely by the Beco Gemini. They do all the same things, but the Pikkolo is sized bigger and would be a better fit for your husband. It will also last you longer....with two tall parents your baby might outgrow the Gemini rather quickly, but the Pikkolo can be used through the toddler years. In the beginning you can use it folded under, apron-style, without the padded waistband. You can also cinch it to make it narrower and fit even a tiny baby with legs out. This feature will also enable you to use it with your baby facing out during the period from 3-6 months when many babies INSIST on facing out so they can see all the things with their newly developed distance vision (before that age they can only see a few feet at most). In the facing out position, the baby is semi-seated, not dangling as they would be with the Baby Bjorn. The Pikkolo also has a full sleeping hood, whereas the Gemini has a headrest only. As your baby grows, you can attach the Babywearing Belt (at about 16-17 pounds) for a padded waistband and extra height in the carrier to accommodate a taller, bigger baby and provide extra support. You can cross the straps if you like, do a hip carry and back carry as well. Its very versatile, as is the Beco Gemini, but I think you would be happier with the larger size and fit of the Pikkolo. Pikkolo: theportablebaby/pikkolo.html Beco Gemini: theportablebaby/becogemini.html SSC Comparison Chart: theportablebaby/carrierfeatures.html With the Ergo you need a bulky and awkward Infant Insert in order to accommodate a newborn or small baby. You cannot cross the straps, cannot face out, cannot adjust the height of the carrier body, and most Ergo models are too short to fit a toddler very well. Hope that helps! Laura
