Cut out gluten to lose fat? Many people DO find that when they cut out gluten, they lose weight. But correlation doesnt equal causation. The average person might eat a few slices of bread, a serving of pasta, a donut, and a bowl of gluten-containing cereals every day. Take those out, and youve lost a good 600+ calories from your diet. Id wager more towards the 800-1,000 range actually. Even if you replace these with other gluten-free foods, its highly unlikely youll replace all those calories. Moral of the story - only cut gluten if you NEED to (ie. youre celiac) or if doing so means you dont feel like youre depriving yourself of anything, and its an easy way to cut calories. As an aside, if you think youre sensitive to gluten, youre probably not. It may just be one or two foods you dont react too well to, or youre simply eating too much in one meal, causing that bloat.
