Cycle 2 Day 8 We went back to the hospital after going home for a lovely dinner. Edric sat with us but as expected, he didnt eat anything. And since we couldnt control his vomits, we took him back to hospital. What he thought was a nice drive out ended up being a hospital stay. The doctors & nurses were quick to attend to him, even though he didnt like it one bit. And while he sleeps, my heart broke into a million pieces, just as it did so many times before. There is so much sadness inside of me. I look at his little hands, clutched together as if he is saying a prayer, but the hands are blackened by the toxicity of the chemo treatment. He looks out the window and wonders why he cant go outside. He stares out to the garden and tells me he wants to go out to play. None of this feels right at all. Volunteers from Radio Lollipop came to bring some cheer into our day. Got a few smiles out of Edric and sometimes, thats all I need. I wonder if our lives will ever be normal again. Even when Edric has gotten the all clear - what will our lives be like? Being Childhood cancer awareness month, I am taught to expect that this is now our lives. My life. Hospital visits. MRI scans. Edric had another dose of chemo (vincristine) today. Hes very tired but overall hes doing better.
