We need to let the West Virginia House and Senate know, loud and clear, that we demand genuine, broad protection for our water - not some weak bandaid. This spill revealed once again that timid enforcement, porous legislation and murky assumptions about industry self-policing hinder oversight of dangerous chemicals. This incident could have been prevented or minimized just with the regulations we have in place, WV DEP Secretary Randy Huffman said, “but it just didn’t click in anybody’s mind that this was a concern.” This is SO not good enough! Join us to take action and hear from people in Charleston, people in the coalfields and people in the Marcellus gas fields. The waters of West Virginia have been poisoned for over a hundred years by extractive industries. Let’s make sure every member of our Legislature gets the message.
