#Cyprus #Armenia #Brotherhood Armenia and Cyprus may not be among the most powerful states in the world, but there is one common feature that distinguishes them from the others - they have a strong will, announced Armenian Parliament Speaker Kalouste Sahakian. He made his announcement at a joint press conference with the President of the House Representatives of Cyprus Yiannakis Omirou. Sahakian added that in 1974 Turkey has barbarously occupied part of the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, and Greek Cypriots are still fighting for their rights. Thus, the Cypriot delegation had to delay the current visit to Armenia because of the danger of a new Turkish invasion into the Exclusive Economic Zone of Cyprus. “Anyway, we are strong with our will and endurance. We share [ with Greek Cypriots] the views on the Turkish diplomacy and approaches of Turkey,” Sahakian stressed. In turn, the speaker of the Parliament of Cyprus added that Armenia and Cyprus should work together to make efforts to ensure that Turkey respects international law. “We need cooperation and common approaches in the regional and international organizations, including the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe,” Yiannakis Omirou added.
