D.Afonso Henriques, King of Portugal (1139 - 1185). Called Ibn-Arrik (son of Henrique) and El-Burtukali (The Portuguese) by the muslims. Crowned king after the Battle of Ourique where he defeated five muslim emirs, which helped the colapse of Almoravid power in the Portuguese territory and allowed him to conquer the cities of Santarém and Lisboa. During his reign, knights such as Geraldo the Fearless stormed the southern areas of Alentejo and Algarve, thus defining the borders of Portugal as we know today.
