D idea of 1914 amalgamation was a right political initiation and garmane as at d period under review.the intention for dis move by Luguard has been defeated by d inordinate ambition of some regional cum ethnic groups to dominate d political terrain of dis country.Today,1914 is seen as a mistake bcos d country was thrown into choas shortly after achieved independence.The problem could b dat granting of so desired freedom came in soft atmospher unlike dos dat had theirs tru pains nd blood.the foundation to build a strong Nig of our drm was laid in 1914,although it wasnt by d consent of d parties involved in d merger bt its an opportunity for us to carry it along and maintain d road to damascus.Am of d view dat wat Sir Luguard did in near 100yrs ago cant b mistaken as a political misconception or error.The fact speaks itself dat there are many countries like Nig.wit such experience but managed to overcome dos challenges dat Nig found irresistable,nd as such making claim of 1914.The trut is dat we are yet to diferentiate b/w political ideaology nd nation building.The point b4 us(Nigerians) is lack of clear identification of d problem which makes d nationbuildin a mirage.We blame d poor economic dev. in nig. to late independence coupled wit d longest period of military intervention in politics which some scholars described as a wasted era bcos,2dem,soldiers are nt gud managers.The guestion is, hw far civillians hav recorded in d path of dev since 14yrs we fully returned to democracy? Yet,we are saying our democracy is anew.For hw long we wil keep on complainin nd ignor d basic factors.To calm it all, d problem of our country is sguarely d mistakes of our past nd present leaders who tink for d nxt election nd nt d nxt generation.Nig can b lik USA,Switzerland,Canada, Ghana etc of confederated political entity.
