DAC Wants Your Photographs After the success of the “Horses - TopicsExpress

DAC Wants Your Photographs After the success of the “Horses are Coming” photo display last year in conjunction with the Pioneer Parade in Grand Cane, LA, the DeSoto Arts Council wants to follow up this year with another project that involves the citizens of DeSoto Parish sharing their photographs of “the way things were.” This year the subject will be antique farm equipment, household implements, etc. from 1950 and before. We would love to have prints of old original photos but are also eager to have photos of current “collections” of these pieces from our past. As a rural, agricultural Village, Grand Cane’s legacy was built on horse and mule drawn farm equipment. But, they were soon displaced by the early engine-driven farm tractors, balers, bush hogs, etc. The big changes came into the household when electricity became available to the homes. We welcome any photos that depict these items and their uses. We are requesting 5x7” prints (no originals, please) and will not return, unless requested. The following information should accompany each submission: Name of contributor & phone number, identification of any people and any items pictured, along with dates, if known and any comments that will help understanding of the photo. Submissions may be dropped off at the DAC Gallery in Grand Cane, LA during regular hours: Thurs & Fri 10 am – 4 pm, Sat 10 am – 3 pm. For more information, call 318-858-3358.
