She is a former Ambassador to the Kingdom of Lesotho. Since joining the Foreign Service in 1977, Ambassador Bond has also served in Guatemala City, Belgrade, Prague, Moscow, and as Principal Officer in Amsterdam. Much of her career has focused on strengthening the Departments ability to assist U.S. citizens overseas, and on issues related to inter-country adoption. Ambassador Bond will discuss how the challenge of future demand has inspired Consular Affairs to completely rethink its management practices. *Prospects for Chinas Economy & U.S.-China Relations Wednesday, July 16 * Dr. Pieter Bottelier * 12 - 2 pm * $25 Following its remarkably quick recovery from the global financial crisis of 2008, Chinas economy is slowing down, while new problems in the form of excess capacity and over-leveraging have emerged, causing turmoil in financial markets.
