DAILY DOSES OF FAITH: Its Sunday: Who do you listen to, Men/Satan or God? ¤ Some People Choose to meet on Saturday because they say its written in the Old Testament. But God says that He only commanded Israel to Observe the Sabbath and keep it Holy (Exodus 20:10-11) they had to do that as a Remembrance of how He (God) Rescued them from the Egyptian Bondage (Deuteronomy 5:12-15). Now, why are you Observing the Sabbath? Have you been to Egypt? Have you been rescued from the Egyptian Slavery? If not, then you can not keep on observing the Sabbath because those who have been commanded to observe it have died and it has been nullified. In Jeremiah 31:31-34 - God spoke through prophet Jeremiah saying that Hell replace the Old Covenant that He made with the Israelites when He rescued then out of Egypt. Reading Hebrews 8:7-13, youll notice that Christians live under the New Covenant. Therefore, under the New Covenant, Christians are Commanded to meet on a Sunday or First Day of the Week (Acts 20:7) not Saturday, the 7th day of the week. ¤ Some people Choose to Partake the Lords Supper Once, or Twice (Good Friday and Christmas only), or three times etc. in a year. But God commands those who do His Will to Partake the Lords Supper Every First Day of the Week or Sunday (Acts 20:7). We partake 4 times in a month and 52 times in a year. Christians are commanded to Observe the Lords Supper in Remembrance of Jesus Christ, i.e Himself, His Life, Sacrifice, Resurrection, Salvation etc. (Luke 22:19-20). What are the Ingredients to be used at the Lords Supper? The Bible does not teach us to dilute strong wine and use any bread even if it has yeast. But it however, commands us to use Unleavened Bread or Bread without Yeast to represent the Body of Jesus Christ (Matthew 26:17), and Fruit of Vine or Unfermented Grape Juice to represent the Blood of Jesus Christ (Mark 14:25). ¤ Some people Choose to teach that they make contributions or collections for the so called pastors or special leaders of the Church. But the Bible teaches us to make collections for the Saints and to help those who are in need (1 Corinthians 16:1). They also promote competition in the church that he who gives more than others receives more blessings. But the Bible commands us to give in proportion to what we have been blessed with (1 Corinthians 16:2b). Christians do not vote or dream about when they should make contribution, the Bible commands us to make collections on every First Day of the Week or Sunday (1 Corinthians 16:2a). ¤ Some people Choose to accompany their Singing by Instruments (instrumental or mechanical music) in order to make them feel good about it. But the Bible commands us to Make Music in our Hearts to the Lord (not Mechanical Instruments), Speaking to each other in Psalms, Hymns, Spiritual Songs (Ephesians 5:19). We are commanded to sing Acappella or Vocal music, and the one to feel good about our singing is not us or other people but Jesus and God. ¤ Some people Choose to use their leaders or founders of their denominations as people who take their prayers to God. But the Bible commands us to Present our Prayers, Requests, Thanksgivings and Petitions to God (Philippians 4:6) through Jesus Christ (John 14:13-14). Conclusion ¤ God has spoken through the Bible. He has shown us how He wants us to worship Him. ¤ The Choice is ours, if we want to please God and live, we must Obey Him. But if you want to please yourself and the devil, continue to worship in your way, but know that eternal death is hovering over your head. Who do you listen to, God or men/Satan? Personally, I listen to God because I want to live with Him eternally in heaven. Stay blessed in Christ. Laughter Loves you. Isaac M. Manyike. 30/03/2014
