DAILY SAFETY TIP - Electrical Safety Rules We use electrical plugs every day to help keep us connected to our personal devices and electronics. Keep your loved ones safe by following these basic safety rules for electrical plugs and cords. 1. Grasp the plug, not the cord, to remove a power cord from an outlet. 2. Never use nails or staples to attach a cord. 3. Don’t twist, bind, or walk on power cords. 4. Check your appliances periodically to make sure cords are in good condition. 5. Repair or replace cords that are damaged or brittle. Ensure that these repairs are always executed by a competent Electrician (Qualified and Experienced). 6. Three-pronged plugs absolutely need that grounding pin – never try to remove it. 7. Put plastic safety caps in all unused wall outlets. 8. Select an extension cord that is properly rated for your intended use. 9. Never overload extension cords or wall sockets. 10. Choose extension cords that are certified by a nationally recognized testing laboratory, such as UL, CSA, or ETA.
