When I was growing up in The Sound Of Philadelphia, an artist did not have be from our city to become a favorite. And Ronnie Laws is one of Philadelphia’s and the world’s most favored Jazz Artist. He is a talented part of a great Jazz-music-family, Hubert Laws, @Debra, Laws, (Laverne)-Eloise Laws. The American brand, Soul & #REAL Jazz Music, is one of The United States’ greatest exports to the world, whether it is the older musical works of great Jazz musicians, or the current efforts from these great musicians. It always has been this way, Internationally speaking of this music genre, until some wise executive thought that in order to save money in recording and promotional budgets for their corporation, they decided that they should sign cheaper (Almost Jazz Like), artists that really didn’t really understand the true motivation that created Black American Jazz music, or the life-style this art-form was derived from. POP culture now has caused this great genre of music to be renamed “MUZAK,” but that is just a watered down version of this classic art form that Ronnie Laws has mastered. Many times Muzak has been inappropriately, (may I add), called Fusion but they got that wrong too. #TRUE Jazz is now the world’s musical treasure, and Jazz cannot be compromised. MUZAK-JAZZ pales in comparison to #REAL Jazz music.
