DANG THIS "DARK GIRLS" DOCUMENTARY GOT PEOPLE ON FIRE ALL OVER THE BLOGOSPHERE!!!! DI STORI DEN BORKU OOOOO, SO MANY VARIED PERSPECTIVES ALL FROM ALL SORTS OF WOMEN, LIGHT OOOO, DARK SKIN OOO, DATING INTERCIALLY OOOO, ONLY PREFER BLACK MEN OOOO, RICH OOO, POOR OOO, EDUCATED OOOO, UNSCHOOLED, SOOOO MANY DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES! "I went to a college that had a very small population of black women and an even smaller population of black men. All of the black women on campus were very attractive. All different shades, beautiful bodies, intelligent, many getting pre-med and pre-law degrees.The black guys on campus, meanwhile, either dated interracially (white or Asian) or dated the light-skinned black girls. The dark skinned black women didn’t sweat it though, because there were quite a few white and Asian male students who saw how gorgeous and intelligent the black girls were and quickly dated/wifed them up. In my graduating class alone, the majority of the black female students (about 70%) were seriously dating someone outside of their race. If black men continue to hang onto these archaic notions of beauty (light skinned is always better) then they really are going to be left behind. I personally think this ‘black single female ‘crisis’ is very temporary. Because interracial relationships are on the rise and more black women are marrying the person who loves them — and increasingly that person is not a black man.I’m married to a black man, but I’m all for black women finding love where they can find it. We don’t have an ‘allegiance’ to black men. They’re not ‘ours’, and we’re not ‘theirs’. We should have an allegiance to whoever loves us." ~ LN
