DANIEL JOHNSON RETURNS In a major recruiting coup, the Adelaide 36ers have secured three time club MVP, Daniel Johnson for the remainder of the 2014/15 NBL season. Johnson who has been playing in Poland with Stelmet Zielona Góra was released by his club on Sunday has returned to Adelaide. The Sixers are locked in a battle with Melbourne and Perth for a place in the top four and the inclusion of Johnson will be a huge bonus. 212cm, Johnson was named in the NBL’s All Star Five last season and was one of the league’s leading scorers averaging 19.6ppg and 7 rebounds per game. “I’ve stayed in touch with DJ while he’s been in Poland, and while things unfortunately didn’t work out for him there, we are more than happy to him back in 36ers blue” said coach Joey Wright. “He’s a quality player and quality person.” The club is now just waiting for his clearance to arrive in time for Friday night’s game in Wollongong, for Johnson to be eligible for the NBL finals he will need to play the last seven regular season games. “We are all excited by Daniel’s return and I’d like thank one of our club partners for helping making this possible.” said General Manager, Dean Parker. Daniel Johnson will train with the squad this morning, Daniel and coach Joey Wright will be available after training (approx. 12:15pm).
