DAR Whooping Crane Update: After the sad Kentucky Whooping Crane news from earlier today, we wanted to end the day with a positive story. We heard from Tom Lynn Photography, who is traveling south to photograph the five remaining 2013 Direct Autumn Release Whooping Cranes on their wintering grounds, that yesterday he located the radio signals for all three of the young cranes that have chosen to winter in central Illinois (Radar 50-13, Squiggy 51-13 and Fonzi 54-13). We are awaiting a visual confirmation of the cranes, and hope that Tom will be able to share some new images soon! We hope that this video of Squiggy at just two days old will remind you of the dedication and support that so many people throughout the world have shown for the Whooping Cranes recovery:
