DAVID CROCKETT AT FORT JACKSON JANUARY 1815. About 200 years ago David Crockett was on his long journey home from the Creek Indian War. After Major Uriah Blue had split his army at Holmes Creek in Spanish West Florida David Crockett in Major William Russells company had rode north to Tallapoosa River and camped in January 1815 at Fort Jackson near the confluence of Tallapoosa and Coosa River. It was here General Andrew Jackson had signed the treaty with the Creek Indians on August 9, 1814. Today the site has been turned into Fort Toulouse - Jackson Park with museum and visitors center, Indian mound, and partial reconstruction of the two forts.
