DAY 23 UWIM fasting blog April 3, 2014Leave a reply Day 23 “Being Sanctified” Sanctification is based on our relationship with God. In Colossians 2:6-7 Paul says: “Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being build up in Him.” We have to be firmly rooted in Him before we can mature as Christians. We can’t expect to live (walk) in Him as mature Christians if we have not first been build up in Him. We would be like a car without gas. We may look good, but we can’t go anywhere. According to Luke 2:52 “Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” In other words, Jesus matured spiritually, mentally, physically and socially. Desiring to do the same, many of us have consulted our concordances to discover what God has to say about marriage, parenting, rest, prayer, meditation etc. Considering all the available resources, why are some Christians then not being more fruitful? Why are some not growing? Often the problem is that they are not connected to Christ and only live in a form of Christian behaviorism… which leads to all sorts of things. Only exercising spiritual disciplines it might say: You’re not trying hard enough, if only you try harder your Christianity (or marriage) might work… guilt, condemnation, defeat! Not wanting to be Pharisees, we have shifted from negative legalism (you shouldn’t do this or that) to positive legalism (you should be doing this). Instead of being called we are driven… the further we are from Christ, the harder we try and the less we accomplish. Yet the closer we get to Christ, and those closest are sweet-spirited and gentle. They bear fruit with little effort. They bear fruit, and they are living testimonies of the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12). Those furthest from Christ tend to be judgmental and legalistic (Isaiah 58:9b). They believe they are scripturally right, and they may be in a legalistic and moralistic sense. They have captured the letter of the law, which kills, but not the Spirit, which gives life (2 Cor. 3:6). They are living under the law and missing the joy of the Lord. Let’s choose today… let this be a year to become more intimate with JESUS! En Colosenses 2:6-7 Pablo dice: “6 Por tanto, de la manera que habéis recibido al Señor Jesucristo, andad en él, 7 arraigados y sobreedificados en El.” Tenemos que estar firmemente arraigados en El antes de poder madurar como cristianos. No podemos esperar vivir (caminar) en El cómo Cristianos maduros sin haber sido sobreedificados en El. Seriamos como un caro sin combustible. Podemos vernos bien, pero no vamos a ningún lugar. De acuerdo a Lucas 2:52 “Y Jesús crecía en sabiduría, en estatura y en gracia para con Dios y los hombres.” En otras palabras, Jesús maduro espiritualmente, mentalmente, y físicamente y socialmente. Deseando ser lo mismo, muchos hemos consultado con concordancias para descubrir o que Dios dice acerca del matrimonio, la paternidad, el descanso, la oración, la meditación etc. Considerando todos los recursos disponibles, ¿porque hay algunos Cristianos que no son más fructíferos? ¿Por qué hay unos que no están creciendo? Obstante el problema es que no están conectados a Cristo y solo vivimos en una forma de comportamiento Cristiano… que nos dirige a muchas diferentes cosas. Solamente ejercitando las disciplinas espirituales podría decir: No estas haciendo lo suficiente, si solo te esfuerzas más en tu Cristianismo (o matrimonio) puede que trabaje… culpabilidad, condenación, derrota! No queriendo ser fariseos, nos hemos elevado a legalismo negativo (no debes ser esto y lo otro) a legalismo positivo (deberías de estar haciendo esto). En vez de ser llamados somos impulsados… lo más lejos que estemos de Cristo, mas nos esforzamos y menos logramos. Y las más cercas que estemos de Cristo, somos más de espíritus dulces y apacibles. Dan fruto con poco esfuerzo. Dan fruto, y son testimonios vivos de las bienaventuranzas (Mateo 5:3-12). Aquellos más lejos de Cristo tienden ser criticadores y legalistas (Isaías 58:9b). Creen que están bien de acuerdo a las escrituras, y puede que si estén en una manera legalista y moralista. Han capturado la letra de la ley, que mata, pero el Espíritu no, que da vida (2 Cor. 3:6). Están viviendo bajo la leu y perdiéndose del gozo del Señor. Escojamos hoy… dejemos que este ano seamos más íntimos con JESUS! Jesús dijo: “Aprender de mí que soy manso y humilde de corazón.”
