DAY TRIPPER UK. By TBU English Editor ~ Mark Bembridge. Every day this week I am giving a short review on a Beatles tourist location in the UK. Yesterday and Monday I posted my own photos from visits to The Cavern Club and other Beatle themed spots on Matthew Street, Liverpool. Today, we have the world famous ABBEY ROAD Studios, and of course that famous crossing. The studio sits on Abbey Road itself and is just a short walk from St Johns Wood tube station. You wont be able to make any mistake about which crossing is THE crossing from the album cover, as all day (and prob night too) it has Beatles fans and tourists alike holding up the traffic to take their photos of themselves and friends crossing. There is a saying in London about who London bus drivers hate the most - The Beatles fans at Abbey road! I have only been to this Beatle hotspot once, and never inside the studio itself. But just being outside you get a sense of nostalgia, a feeling of the history of what has been created here. The walls outside the studio are always covered in graffiti messages of love to the fab-four. Im told that they used to repaint it regularly but gave up after years of it happening. The last pic is from that famous photoshoot in 1969. The other photos are my very own. The third one is from the Abbey Road webcam, available anytime from their official website (you can view the last 24hrs from it here: abbeyroad/crossing ). I am the one leading the 3 people from the right. The webcam actually points in the opposite direction to the album cover shot. Check in to the Beatles Universe, Features Page for another Beatles tourist spot same time tomorrow!
