DBMC to Attempt Worlds Largest Gathering of People Wearing Holiday Sweaters - 12/4 at 7:30 pm Date: Thu, Dec 4, 2014 Delray Beach Marketing Cooperative to Host Worlds Largest Gathering of People Wearing Holiday Sweaters at Lighting of Famous 100-Foot Christmas Tree / December 4 at 7:30 pm Along with the family-friendly celebrations and holiday events, this year the Delray Beach Marketing Cooperative (DBMC) wants to set a world record for the Largest Gathering of People Wearing Holiday Sweaters. The DBMCs goal is to attract more than 700 people, which would beat Londons 2013 record of 639 people. This attempt to break a world record for holiday sweaters will take place during the lighting of the Famous 100-Foot Christmas Tree on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 pm, on the grounds of the Delray Beach Center of the Arts at the Old School Square Park. For the purposes of breaking this record, a qualifying sweater or jumper, as it is known in England must prominently depict a traditional Christmas/Holiday character, item, or theme, such as Santa Claus, a Christmas tree, gifts or holly, said Stephen Chrisanthus, DBMCs associate director. Plain red or green sweaters will not qualify. The sweaters must be long-sleeved and can be pullover or cardigan style. Additionally, all participating sweater-wearers must be in position simultaneously and remain so for a minimum of five minutes. Go to 100FtChristmasTree for complete rules to participate.
