DDC Kathua reviews Anti-Flood Measures 2 control rooms to monitor situation KATHUA, JUNE 15:- The district administration has decided to establish two Control rooms to facilitate coordination among government agencies to deal with any eventuality during the monsoon season. The decision was taken in a meeting convened here today to discuss measures to deal with the threat of floods during the monsoon season. Chaired by the District development Commissioner, Kathua Jatindera Kumar Singh , the meeting was attended by Additional District development commissioner, Kathua Ajay Singh Jamwal, SP,Kathua, Mohan Lal Additional Deputy Commissioner. Kathua Rahul Sharma Dy.S.P(Hq) Assistant Commissioner ( Development ) Xen’s Flood control, Irragarion.PHE , SDM, Basholi, tehsildars, officers from Army , Dy Controller Civil Defence and District Officers of the line departments. The meeting decided to set up two control rooms to maintain close coordination among various departments and agencies to deal with any eventuality. One control room will be established in the office of flood control Department, Kathua and another at District Police Lines, Kathua. The Control Rooms shall start functioning from July 1, 2013. The DDC outlined the importance of inter departmental coordination in dealing with any emergency. He emphasized the need for the effective implementation of anti- flood measures and asked the concerned government functionaries to work with dedication and sincerity. The DDC directed the Block Development Officers and Tehsildars to closely monitor the flood protection arrangements and ensure that there was no lapse in this regard. The DDC directed the Executive Engineer flood control kathua to frame a roaster of flood duty chart to monitor the level of rivers and nallahas. He also called for ensuring quick communication about the flood message to the main control room. Army was requested to help the district administration during any exigency, while services of police and Army jawans, besides volunteers of civil defence will be sought for meeting any exigency, the meeting decided. It was also decided that in case of evacuation, the evacuated people will be accommodated in Higher Secondary Schools and Panchyatas Ghars. The health department was directed to establish medical camps with necessary arrangements for stocks of important medicines and anti snake bite injections. The executives officers of municipalities were directed to make elaborate sanitation arrangements and clear all the lanes and drains before the monsoon, PHE departments was asked to ensure supply of clean water during the floods.
