The 7dayshop buyers were challenged to find a premium, high-end, even ‘PRO’ quality back pack to bolster the range alongside the extremely popular low cost models. Without sounding smug, if gold stars were given out for achievement they should be getting littered with them right now! You will be hard pushed to find a photo backpack offering the same level of supreme quality, protection, functionality and comfort at this price point from ANY brand ANYWHERE! So why this backpack? Perfect for the active, outdoor photographer that has a substantial amount of gear to lumber around. Whether you’re an enthusiast or casual photographer, you will need a sturdy SLR camera bag to carry and protect your valuable equipment. An SLR camera is not only expensive but also treated as a treasured item so it makes good sense to protect it with a decent camera case. On the outside Constructed from a high quality waterproof and robust black 600D nylon gives good protection from the rigours of outdoor photography; speaking of waterproof, all of the main compartment access zips are double-sealed (to the point of the zip being virtually invisible) offering even more protection from the elements. Located at the top of the back of the bag are the two shoulder blade comfort foam pads, they are a very generous 180mm long by 25mm deep and are covered in a 3D mesh for extra breathe-ability – the large semi-circular lumbar (lower back) comfort pad is constructed in the same manner. The separation and depth of the 3 comfort pads provides a brilliant air flow, making for a cooler carry. The shoulder straps offer good mesh covered padding and at 70mm wide help spread the load nicely. The right hand strap has a small zipped pocket, ideal for a mobile phone (you can squeeze an iPhone 4 in) or perhaps a pen, cash, etc. One element of the bag that takes it over and beyond some other leading manufacturer’s offerings is the generous sizing – the author and buyer of this bag has for want of a better term a ‘barrel chest’ and at 50” there is still room for a hefty coat or winter layers. Extra carrying comfort is assured as the backpack is supplied with a really superb quality, fully adjustable (and completely detachable if you wish) waist belt, equipped with a heavy duty ‘snap in’ fastening buckle. Once the backpack is on you can also utilise the elasticated and fully moveable chest harness for final securing. Looking at the backpack head on, the left hand main double zip gives direct, rapid access to the main compartment. The left side is finished off with two 160mm deep accessory pockets, one with zip access and one open. Moving to the right side of the bag, the main double zip gives access to a very generous 230mm deep accessory pocket which has allowance for 3 pens and a mobile phone. Additionally there is a 120mm x 100mm mesh pocket on the inside flap. Lastly a zipped 170mm deep pocket sits on the outside allowing for any other bits n bobs that you might need to store. Once opened out, the fully customisable main chamber is revealed. Thickly padded soft material coated walls with Velcro dividing sections offers lots of flexibility and scope for camera equipment configurement. A likely storage scenario would probably be something like a DSLR camera body with medium lens attached, 3-4 additional lenses and a PRO flash gun. This still leaves the top section free for cables, external hard drive etc, etc. Did I mention the 210mm x 130mm zip pocket in the main lid!? And unbelievably on closer inspection I just found a couple more stash pockets in the main compartment and a super-stealth zipped pocket at the front of the bag - this is one accessory hungry backpack! A single waterproofed zip on the right side of the backpack gives access to the densely padded Notebook/Small Laptop compartment that will accommodate screen sizes up to 13”. The double zipped front panel of the backpack gives direct access to the very top section - measuring at 200mm x 200mm offers more than enough room for a DSLR with medium lens attached, a small raincoat or even a decent packed lunch! The backside of the main front flap reveals a plethora of smaller zipped and mesh pockets suitable for spare batteries, memory cards etc (like you havn’t seen enough of those!). The large 200mm x 150mm zipped, mesh pocket finishes off any chance of losing any kind of gubbins or accessories! If you hadn’t gathered, this backpack is more than up to the most demanding photo / video applications. If you are in the market for a highly functional, comfortable and feature packed DSLR/Video/Notebook backpack that offers ‘PRO’ quality but with a huge saving - look no further, you have found it!
