DEAR FRIENDS HERE IS ANOTHER SUPER WORDS FOR THE DAY. The Blessings of Unity Psalm 133 New International Version (NIV) 1 How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! 2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. 3 It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore. For Meditation Can we live together as God’s children and not devour ourselves as the world does? Can we call a lasting truce here? How long can this go on? How long do we have to live on this dying planet? Why can’t you see eye to eye with one another? What is it that separates you? Don’t you know that you have more to unite you than to divide you if only you want to see the good side of things? Can’t you agree to disagree on some issues and still love each other? Can’t there be some middle ground to tread without compromising your integrity? Have you forgotten that unity doesn’t mean you have to be the same and think the same way? Don’t you know that unity is being able to blend your uniqueness and differences into a unit that has integrity as you live together or relate to each other? Do you have any idea how it pleases God to see His children living in such unity? (Ps. 133:1; Phil. 2:1-4). Can you imagine the delight and joy it brings to those who live in such harmony? Do you see why David says it is beautiful to behold? (Ps. 133:2). Can you understand why he used the priesthood of Israel as a symbol of unity? Just as the people smelled the fragrance of the anointing oil as it was poured on Aaron’s head, don’t you see how the people around you can smell the delicate scent of our Christian unity? Just as the dew of Mt. Hermon refreshes and brings moisture to water the crops in the valley, can you see how refreshing and productive it is for us to live in unity? (v.3). Can you see how such unity resembles the unity in the Trinity? Is it any wonder that God bestows His blessings on His children who live in such harmonious unity? I pray you will through away all that divide you and your spouse, sibling, friend or colleague and live in unity as Paul pleads in Philippians 2:1-4; for that is the only way you can have the attitude of Christ as he describes in vv.5-8 and the subsequent blessings of 9-11. May you be refreshed by the dew of Mt. Hermon this weekend; and may you be as productive as only God can enable you throughout the week ahead and beyond! Shalom Pastor Baafi
