DEMSEE 2014 Conference We are pleased to announce that the 9th Annual Conference on Deregulated Electricity Market Issues in South Eastern Europe (DEMSEE 2014), will be held in Nicosia, Cyprus on the 25th and 26th of September 2014 at the Hilton Hotel. It is organized by the DEMSEE International Steering Committee, the Electricity Authority of Cyprus, Frederick University, the Cyprus National CIGRE Committee and the Cyprus IET. DEMSEE is a forum for discussions on electricity market issues, as well as the operation aspects of interconnected and isolated power systems in South-Eastern Europe. It dates back to 2006 when the first DEMSEE conference was held in Crete and since then it has become an institution, held annually in a different country in the Eastern Mediterranean. The conference is addressed to professionals in the Electricity and related Energy Sectors and will also be attended by Regulators and Public Administration Officials with responsibility for Electricity and Energy issues. An impressive array of distinguished Practitioners, Academics, Market Development Experts and Business Personalities from the Eastern Mediterranean and other parts of the world will present, discuss and share experiences on technical and other Electricity Market Issues. DEMSEE also provides an excellent networking opportunity to establish new professional relationships and/or start new projects in the region. Sessions and Presentations In the special Sessions on ENERGY MARKETS DEREGULATION AND LEGISLATION, POWER SYSTEM PLANNING AND ANALYSIS, POWER SYSTEM OPERATION AND CONTROL, RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY and POWER SYSTEM COMPONENTS, some 40 Papers will be presented by Academics and Practitioners on relevant issues, in promoting and developing efficient deregulated electricity markets in South Eastern Europe. In addition, our high ranking invited guests and keynote speakers will highlight policy issues from Government and Regulators as well as the Business Community, Academia and Research. A round table discussion on the issue of “The role of the Prosumer in the Energy Future” will contribute to understanding better the new trend of distributed generation and consumption in the power industry. Keynote speeches including “The Role of Overhead Lines in the context of the New Energy Policies”, Integrated Road Map for a Sustainable Future and “The development of Cypruss strategic plan for RES-E promotion: From feed-in tariffs to net-metering and auctioning supporting schemes” will enhance the understanding of the developments in today’s deregulated electricity markets scene.
