DEVOTIONS FOR THE NIGHT OWL ~ PURPOSE “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21 At a recent conference, it was prophesied over me that “stress would soon be lifted and my purpose was about to be fulfilled.” I have since pondered, “What is my purpose anyway, Lord?” Having graduated from high school as a member of the National Honor Society, I’ve often felt like I haven’t lived up to my potential. True, I have been successful at many things. I have been in one monogamous relationship for 33 yrs, birthed two children and adopted two, fostered the multitude and have 10 beautiful and talented grandchildren. I have authored two books, served the local church and in several positions in various ministries, worked a variety of secular jobs and carry many friendships. Devotions for the Night Owl have seemed to be a hot hit. Though I’ve achieved many great things, there still is a void that something seems to be lacking in life. Being faced with great uncertainty at this point in my life, I find myself asking, “Where have I gone wrong?” “Will my dreams ever come true?” “Will I ever get to travel?” “Am I really called of God?” Yet this verse captured my heart as I am a planner that it doesn’t matter what my plans are, the Lord’s are far greater than mine.
