DEVOTIONS, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12, 2014-WAKE-UP AMERICA Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Welcome to the Wednesday edition of Wake-Up America. Whether you spend time with God before work or in the evening when you retire for the day, we strive to facilitate your walk with the Lord, in a country blessed by God himself. SCRIPTURE- The Parable of the Ten Bridesmaids Open your Bible and read Matthew 25:1-13 MESSAGE: Jesus told this parable to clarify what it means to be ready for his return. It also tells his followers how to live until he comes. In the course of human events we are seeing prophecy’s unfolding in front of our eyes, so we are nearer to his return now than at any time in the past. The Parable teaches us that we are each responsible for our spiritual condition. We are charged with using well what God has entrusted to us. And he showed us the importance of serving one another. The parable about the wedding shows the bridegroom going to the bride’s house for the ceremony and then a great procession going to the groom’s house for a week long feast. The groom did not arrive at the expected time, five of the ten bridesmaids waiting for the procession ran out of oil and by the time they purchased oil, were too late to join in the feast. When Jesus returns to take his people to heaven we must be ready. Spiritual preparation cannot be borrowed or bought at the last minute. Our relationship with God must be our own. Kirkpatrick QUOTE: If youre married, and you have a wife, and you really love your wife, is it good enough to only say to your wife I love her the day you get married? Or should you tell her every single day when you wake up and every opportunity? And thats how I feel about my relationship with Jesus Christ is that it is the most important thing in my life. Tim Tebow HISTORY 101: President Thomas Jefferson believed the teachings of Jesus embodied the “most sublime system of morals” in the whole world. He said “We all agree in the obligation of the moral precepts of Jesus, and nowhere will they be found delivered in greater purity than His discourses.” The Book of Matthew details Jesus’ discourses, especially through the Sermon on the Mount as no other of the Gospels. Despite the efforts of the flesh to go the wrong way, you live deep in our hearts and whisper the right way to the road of eternal life. May we be mindful that being a Christian is a 24-7 responsibility? You know what we think before it is said. We pray for strength to tell our fleshly desires no, well do it His way. We’ll get our spiritual house in order so when the bridegroom comes for his bride, we will be ready to go with Him. May what we do and say be pleasing in your sight, and we may dwell in your house forever. SMILE-A-WHILE: During a funeral the organist played a beautiful rendition of Bach’s, “Sheep May Safely” as the casket was being carried out of the church. After the service the minister complemented him on his performance. “Oh by Graze the way, do you know the deceased was a butcher?” I’m Dwight Rohr, and that is todays Good News!
