DFPA News Release: Monday Evening Fires I-5 Milepost 118 North Bound: The Douglas Forest Protective Association and Douglas County Fire District #2 responded to a grass fire Monday evening near I-5 mile post 118 northbound. Firefighters arrived on scene shortly after 6:30 and found that the fire, which started alongside the freeway, had spread into an adjacent mowed field. Firefighters gained access to the field and stopped the fire spread at 1/4 of an acre of grass. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. I-5 Milepost 89: DFPA, Canyonville - South Umpqua Fire Department, and Azalea Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. near I-5 mile post 89 south bound. Firefighters arrived on scene and found a vehicle fully involved with fire. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the vehicle with little spread to wildland.
