DIABETES - CHARITY GOLF DAY (PLEASE PLEASE READ ON) Sunny Boy says a plea from the heart after being recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes (Christmas Eve 2013) . . . . . . . . . . By no means life threatening for me, however it was life changing thats for sure, particularly with regards to my lifestyle - especially my diet and exercise, and the numerous doctors / hospital appointments, blood tests and stuff. And for those of you who know me personally, diet and exercise are foreign words to me, and used to consist of seeing how many pints I could guzzle down, then run down to the Indians or Chinese before it closed . . . . . but not now !! Nobody knows for sure what caused it but Im assuming being 16 stone 3 pounds at my heaviest, and surviving on beer and takeaways when I was younger, and partying very hard, didnt help eh ha ha ha. Im now a healthy 14 stone 4 pounds though, with a target weight of 13 stone 8 pounds . . . . . . . And my diet largely consists of - Low Sugar, Low Salt and Low Fat foods, with the occasional treat. (lets not count my recent boys golfing trip to Portugal ha ha ha) Anyway without fear of boring you all to death, and to cut a very very long story short, and as a lot of my followers are also keen golfers. I decided to organise a CHARITY golf day with the help of a good friend - Jake Riddell and Auchterarder Golf Club, on Saturday 13th Sept. 2014 (I was hoping for the 27th but apparently theres something on up at Gleneagles that weekend) The golf day is now fully booked up, and is actually over subscribed if Im brutally honest, with over 200 golfers applying for only 144 tee times . . . . . (on-line registration coming soon) Thing is though Im trying to raise about £15 grand for CHARITY, so need more sponsors / donations / pledges please. Ive already raised £5 grand which is absolutely fantastic, but need a lot more to reach my target !! 70% of all monies raised is going to Diabetes UK Scotland with 15% also going to the SCOTTISH CHARITY AIR AMBULANCE which flies out of Perth, with the other 15% going to my local Beavers, Cubs and Scouts here in Auchterarder, which will benefit over 150 kids !! Ive still got business / sponsorship opportunities left, with the old faithful TEES and GREENS proving to be very popular, however theres still a few of these left to sponsor if youre interested !!!! As well as other sponsorship packages available. Danscot Perth are providing an official match day programme, so big shout out to Juila Rayner and everyone at Danscot - ALL sponsors will be included in the programme which will also double up as a mini BUSINESS DIRECTORY !!! Theres loads of wonderful prizes / cash / Tombola stuff to be won on the day, and Arnold Clark Nissan Perth have kindly donated a BRAND NEW CAR for one of the hole in one prizes . . . . . Pipe Band as well, with food and drink on throughout the day for any visitors, family or friends that want to come along and support the event vocally !! wee Sunny Boy will be hitting the first ball and opening the event at about 7.20am, which is being hosted by Heartland FM !! Evening meal / prize giving and disco as well. So its going to be a fantastic day all round hopefully.
