DIVORCE CORP. FAMILY LAW REFORM CONFERENCE I attended the Divorce Corp. Family Lay Reform Conference over the weekend in Washington DC (actually Alexandria VA) with a couple of hundred other reform minded people. I was able to renew acquaintances with leaders of national organizations such as Mike McCormick of ACFC and Ned Holstein MD from the National Parents Organization. I spoke with Joe Sorge, producer of Divorce Corp. the Movie. I met a professor of economics from the University of California who thinks that the child support system needs to be changed to reflect the actual cost of raising a child. He has agreed to come to Madison and testify before the advisory panel for the review of the Wisconsin Percentage of Income Standards guidelines for setting child support that DoW will be sitting on. I met several mothers who have lost their children to family court or CPS but that majority of attendees were fathers. I spoke parents who children were the victims of international parental kidnapping. I also met with folks who were working to alleviate the pain and suffering for those affected by family court. One lady has produced a professional 30 minute video of the children of divorce. It is called SPLIT and I highly recommend you get it for your kids to watch. You can watch the trailer here. splitfilm.org/ Everyone I spoke to was excited about the possibility that Wisconsin could have the first equal placement law in the nation. Hopefully we can draw some support from other organizations for our efforts here. I think the entire event will be made into a movie and I believe the sessions will be available on You Tube. I will let you know. Thanks Steve
