DNR/DNA/DNT: Melissa Crews - Cold Noses Warm Hearts This will be long but please read! 2 years ago we warned people about a rescue called Cold Noses Warm Hearts - Melissa Crews out of Dyersburg, TN. At that time we had proof that she was lying about where the dogs were, she had stolen a 501(c)(3) number, refused to allow anyone on her property, lied about having a state of the art facility (no such place existed), gave a vet reference for a vet she had only used a couple of times and had an outstanding, unpaid balance at. She was soliciting funds but not registered with the state gaming commission. The dogs that she pulled would just disappear no happy adoption picture, no post about vetting any dogs, just asked for money but no follow up. Crews was pulling several pits a week from all over TN and was then planning to go to Miami Dade to pull several (put a chip in together for gas money and a rental van). While we tried to warn people, they wouldnt listen and called us bad for trying to warn about a BAD rescue (I will always speak out against bad rescues). Fast forward two years....She busts back on the scene pulling dogs left and right while people are singing her praises. Again, we tried to warn people but nobody would listen. We begged people not to give her dogs.... Two dogs that we know of were picked up for running at large and taken to the Dyersburg HS (who, by the way, has been a BIG Crews supporter for the past year). On 3/27 she was arrested for Animal Cruelty/Neglect in Dyersburg - she left animals alone in crates, for at least 3 days, on her property when she was evicted. The dogs that were seized were in bad shape (some were almost feral) and obviously living in filth. She has been sentenced to not own animals for 11 months 29 days in the city of Dyersburg, TN......that is fact and can be verified by anyone. Unfortunately she will probably start her rescue somewhere else outside Dyersburg city limits so that is why we need to share this info. How much more info do we need to post before people open their eyes and see shes bad news? If you have given her a dog, you have NOT done your due diligence in investigating where your dogs are going. You will never hear me say anything bad about a rescue without FACT because I believe we all need to work together but if you have supported her in the past and feel this is me not being nice to her and you continue to support her - please let me know....Id like to unfriend you!
