DNR Wildlife Division staff have confirmed two recent cougar - TopicsExpress

DNR Wildlife Division staff have confirmed two recent cougar photos taken by trail cameras in the north central Upper Peninsula. The first photo, shown here, was taken on Sept. 18 near County Rd. 510 in northwest Marquette County. The second photo, taken on Oct. 19, is also from a location near County Rd. 510. Both photos were captured by trail cameras on private property. The landowners allowed wildlife biologists to visit their properties this week to confirm the location and authenticity of the two photos and the DNR received permission to release the photo from September. Due to the proximity of the locations and dates for the two photos, wildlife biologists believe it is likely that the same animal is shown in both photos. DNR wildlife staff have now verified the presence of cougars in Michigans Upper Peninsula more than 20 times since 2008. For information on cougars in Michigan and how to report cougar sightings or photos to the DNR, visit michigan.gov/cougars. **GOOD GRIEF*** Seriously!!!! We have been hunting up there for 20 years, No Cougars! I can not believe the DNR would post these, they should be up in that area with traps and looking for real signs like scat, tracks, etc...
