DOES BLEACH KILL MOULD? Many homeowner would suggest treating the area with diluted bleach. However, there is one problem with this suggestion, Im convinced Bleach does not kill mould. Eyebrows raise in disbelief every time I say the phrase bleach doesnt kill mould. Some look at me as if Im speaking another language and they are right. Bleach (active ingredient is Sodium Hypochlorite) is very effective in removing the discoloration but may leave the microflora that will enable the mould to return in exactly the same spot when conditions are right. Have you ever wondered why you have to clean the same spot of mould on the bathroom tiles month after month? The mould has never been killed - it simply goes clear and then returns. Bleach will not kill the mould. What do I use to kill mould? A PRODUCT CALLED LENCIA A new client asked me if I could use something stronger after I cleaned her shower for the first time as it was covered in black mould. The shower was cleaned two weeks prior by another cleaner which this cleaner only used bleach. My response to the new client, bleach only hides mould and its just a band-aid solution to the problem (she looked at me very strangely) . I explained to her that I use a very effective solution for killing mould in showers, after the mould is treated, I then used bleach the following week to remove the mould stain. This clients shower is now mould free and has been for the last three months. Before I came along the mould in her shower came back every week. I have not had to use bleach in the shower for the last three months which only means one thing, a very happy client now!
