DOG OUT IN WOODS! PLEASE HELP AND SHARE! From WTOC viewer Athena Carellas: I am writing to you in hopes that you can get the word out to help a beautiful, full blooded border collie that was dumped off and left to fend for herself over 8 months ago. She is seen every morning around or across from the National Air Guard on Dean Forest Road and Robert B. Miller Road. Several Gulfstream employees have stopped to try to rescue her as well as other people. I know of three people that leave food out for her on a regular basis and want to rescue her but she evades them. There is a whole community of people trying to help her. She is very smart and suspicious and untrusting given her circumstances but has been surviving out in this terribly cold weather. She looks hungry and hopeless and it breaks our hearts to see her like this when she deserves a good life. We have contacted Animal Control, who is all too familiar with her, and they have been unable to catch her and do not want to tranquillize her because of the high traffic area she is spotted in. Apparently she only comes out in the morning because she knows someone will leave food for her somewhere. We also contacted an agency that captures wild animals and they want $1200 to catch her and that was just for one attempt with no guarantees and they would also turn her over to animal control and not us. We are at our wits ends. Any help you could give us would be GREATLY appreciated. We need help safely capturing her and maybe someone out there can assist us. We are torn to pieces seeing her struggle and yet cant get her to a loving and warm home where she will be taken care of. Please contact me atacarellas@yahooor 912-844-5556 or Cheri Engebretson atwvagal75@yahooor 912-659-8963 if you have any questions. Thank you.
