DOLE forms tripartite council for hotel-resto in Aurora By Joselito S. Libranda BALER, Aurora, Aug 15 (PIA) -- Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) recently established the Aurora Industrial Tripartite Council (A-ITC) for hotels and restaurants in bid to maintain a harmonious working environment among labor, management, and government in the province. “The province of Aurora is one of the region’s best tourist destinations, and with more tourists coming over would mean more jobs. It’s timely that we are establishing the first hotel and restaurant tripartite industrial council here in the province for government and the private sector to have a venue, through social dialogue, to address all issues and concerns faced by this industry,” DOLE Regional Director Raymundo Agravante explained. A total of 22 management and worker representatives from the different hotel and restaurant businesses in the province attended the initial meeting which covered a number of topics including Labor Relations, Human Relations, Productivity, Tripartite Certificate of Compliance on Labor Standards (TCCLS), Kasambahay Law, Rule 1020 otherwise known as the “Registration of Establishments” and other labor laws and issuances. Companies which supported the creation of the council include Aby-ler Vioew Hotel, XTJR Traveller’s Inn, Dinadiawan Agriculture Resort, La Sunshine Beach Resort, Gerry Shan’s Place, RL Balloons and Party Needs, M. Moreno Lodge Restaurant, Bays Inn Lodge and Restaurant, Lorentess Resort, Aliya Surf Resort, Isla Virginia Resort, Malamig Resort, Merin’s Refreshment and Catering, Pacific Waves Inn, Machiavelli Lodge, Costa Pacifica/Bahia, Le Cez Bamboo, Carlito’s Inn, and Punta Sierre Verde. Duly-elected officials of the council were DOLE Provincial Director Antonio Mutuc, Jr. as Chairman; Aurea Angara as Vice Chairman for Management; Aida Verin as Vice Chairman for Labor; Gigie Garcia as Secretary; Marieta Tablang as Treasurer; Winnie Mediona as Auditor, and Myrna Moreno as Public Relations Officer. Mutuc said ITCs are created to serve as venues for consultations on issues that are affecting both workers and employers. “The Council signifies its strong commitment to facilitate genuine social dialogue because labor law compliance and productivity can only be realized if and when industrial peace is sustained,” Mutuc emphasized. For her part, Angara expressed its full support and cooperation in partnership with the DOLE. “It is good that apart from compliance to labor standards, we were also informed on how the Council can serve as a mechanism wherein we can lobby our positions on issues and concerns in our industry. Rest assured that we will be extending our full support and cooperation to make this Council benefit both management and labor,” Angara said.
