DOMINICA LABOUR PARTY ADMINISTRATION TO CONTINUE FOCUS ON EDUCATION Roseau, Dominica – Tuesday, December 16, 2014 – Prime Minister and Minister for Finance the Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit has reiterated government’s commitment to the development of education in Dominica. The Prime Minister gave this commitment as he addressed the swearing-in ceremony of the new Cabinet of Ministers on Saturday, December 13, 2014. Prime Minister Skerrit stated that every Dominican family has benefited from the DLP Government’s massive investment in education “from the cradle to the grave”. He highlighted government’s achievements thus far in education as a stepping stone towards future development. “We have achieved universal access to education at the Secondary level; and we plan to achieve universal access to Early Childhood Education and Tertiary level education from 2015. Also in this new term, Secondary and Tertiary Education will be transformed to meet the current and future needs of the nation. Civics, Culture, Technical and Vocational Skills, Agriculture and Hospitality will feature prominently in the curriculum. We are committed to the construction and functioning of a modern polytechnic; catering to the needs of the more technically inclined in our midst,” Prime Minister Skerrit stated.
