DOOSAN VINA EXPORTS THE FIRST MADE IN VIETNAM SEA WATER REVERSE OSMOSIS DESALINATION SYSTEM Doosan Heavy Industries Viet Nam has shipped the first ever “Made in Vietnam” Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Desalination system for the Escondida (Chile) Water Supply project. Based in Quang Ngai, Doosan Vina made this 1,705 ton shipment on January 9th to the Escondida Copper Mine, the world’s largest, which is located in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile. When completed and operational the SWRO desalination system will supply 220 million liters of water per day, which is equivalent to the water needs of more than a half a million people. “This is another history making moment in Vietnam’s industrialization by Doosan Vina, this is the first time such high tech desalination equipment has been manufactured here,” said Do Quoc Vuong, General Manager of Water’s Manufacturing Engineering Department. The second shipment to Chile is planned for January 18, and the final components of the SWRO system will be exported between February 15th and April 30th in four other shipments. Doosan Vina is the first company in Vietnam to produce scalable SWRO Desalination filtration systems and marks a significant advancement in the nation’s industrial technology and competitive abilities.
