DPPS BEHAVIUOR SHOCKS CITIZEN Dear Editor I write in disbelief that the Director of public prosecution entered a nolle on the 23rd of October 2014 on the three changes that were slapped on Jesus Wining Saul ministries Bishop Rose Chikole Kayanda and her so called church members in which they assaulted and broke property of Lusaka magistrate and her husband on the 2nd of September this year. The DPP consented to this docket on the 23rd October 2014 and wanted the court to convene on the same day to let free these accused persons. 23rd October as you are aware was declared a half working day and frantic efforts were made to force the presiding magistrate to sit and set free these criminals. Please help me understand this. Has the DPP got powers to instruct the Zambian courts to sit when he so desires and for how long has this being going on? The mention date in this case is 4th November 2014.Dpp chambers instructed the court to sit before this date and well beyond 13hrs and the day being a half working day.DPP has no powers to instruct Zambian courts when to sit and not. So how was this allowed in the first place. Information obtained from Emmersdale police station reveal that they are still holding a suspect in the same matter who was supposed be charged jointly with this bishop and company. So have the police concluded their investigations thoroughly for DPP to arrive at this decision. These dockets I am told were still at Emmersdale police station as late as 20th October 2014.It took 2days for the dockets to pass through the process which includes the DPP analyzing the case and concluding that there was no case to prosecute Surely how many cases are still pending in his chambers that he should give this particular case this supersonic urgency. How many detainees are still in prisons all over Zambia some for several years that he should personally get involved in secure ling the release of these criminals. This so called church is not even registered with the registrar of societies going by what is happening today at this church. A group of church members are putting together a constitution as a pre requisite to register this church. They were advised by a corrupt official at the registrar office to put together this documents and write an apology letter to be filled week starting this Monday. The Bishop and her followers were charged with 1.Aggravated Robbery 2. Aggravated Assault 3.Malicious Damage . He has entered nolle on these charges without giving options for other charges. It is on video that these people carried out these offences and which by the way was organized by themselves. Now the DPP whose only aim is to prosecute for the state and get a conviction through the courts of law is now in the fore front to release criminals on a day he knew no one was going to re arrest these criminal if at all they wanted to. My understanding is that one of the complainants works for the courts and the scheme had reached this stage without them knowing , what about me and that hopeless person detained without trial out there. How many more schemes has this DPP carried out .Is this the DPP our parliament endorsed to serve the poor Zambians. Through you I want to hear from Parliament. This case is scheduled to be tabled in magistrate court tomorrow the 27th October 2014.I have written to you as a concerned Christian who is willing to defend what we stand for in the Lord Jesus Christ and encourage you to please investigate this issue and bring to the fore what is driving this DPP to behave in such a manner.
