DPS Trooper Seizes Over $157,000 AMARILLO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop Tuesday on IH-40, yielding over $157,000 in US currency. At approximately 1:53 p.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country traveling westbound on IH-40, for a traffic violation, near Bushland in Oldham County. The occupants of the Town and Country were identified as Darrylree L. Alexander, 28, and William Alexander Jr., 46, both of Charlotte, N.C. During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered the US currency in the luggage. The Alexander’s were placed under arrest for money laundering over $100,000 but less than $200,000, a second-degree felony, and booked into the Oldham County Jail. The illegal cash was allegedly being transported from Charlotte, N.C., to Oakland, Calif.
