DREAMS SERIES PART 8 Prepared by Pastor Charles Chanda; Pretoria, South Africa JACOB HAD A DREAM FROM GOD WHEN HE LEAST EXPECTED TO HAVE ONE Gen 28:16 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.11. And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. 12. And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. 13. And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; 14. And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 15. And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of. 16. And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not. People do many funny things to enable them have dreams. I am made to understand that some sleep smiling so that they can have good dreams whilst others believe that if you laugh before you sleep you avoid bad dreams. All these are foolish beliefs as I can assure that on such days not even a percentage of a dream comes. Jacob did not even have a pillow the night God appeared in the dream. Have you noticed that dreams from God are complete with a complete message? I am not sure if some of you have had dreams where you are about to be given something and then you woke up. Regret follows as if it was real GOD UNDERSTOOD THAT JACOB’S LIFE WAS COMPLICATED BY THE MOTHER AND HE WAITED FOR HIM TO BE AWAY FROM THE MOTHER BEFORE GIVING HIM A DREAM. Gen 25:28 And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob. Gen 27:6 And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying, Gen 27:11-13 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:12. My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing. 13. And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them. Gen 27:15 And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son: There are some dreams God we will never give us until we are out of the lives of those who have great influence upon our lives. Jacob did everything the mother said. She was a god in his life. Check up who is a god in your life. Such people will hinder some great dreams that God has for you. JACOB NEVER EXPECTED GOD TO APPEAR TO HIM BECAUSE OF WHAT HE HAD DONE! Gen 27:19 And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy firstborn; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me. Gen 27:24 And he said, Art thou my very son Esau? And he said, I am. What dream do you expect a deceiver and liar to have? Many will say of course bad dreams because of their evil but we see here that God wanted to correct Jacob. He dreamt a ladder with angels ascending and descending. THE LADDER IN THE DREAM WAS THE SON OF MAN Gen 28:12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. John 1:51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man. Mat 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Do you now understand that the ladder Jacob saw in the dream was Jesus? God will use dreams to get the attention of sinners so that they can be drawn closer to God. TO BE CONTINUED
