DRINKING FROM ONE CUP OF THE LORD Besides one bread to be broken, - TopicsExpress

DRINKING FROM ONE CUP OF THE LORD Besides one bread to be broken, is one cup to be shared among the church in the Holy Communion. Jesus took cup, not cups: It is one cup that everyone is called to share, not different cups. This means we are to drink from the same cup, and pass it to another to drink from that same cup: This is different from what is obtainable in some churches where everyone has to take a different cup and drink his or her own portion from a different cup. There were other cups in the table at the Lord ’s Supper that night, but Jesus only took one cup and blessed it and gave to his disciples, saying, “This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.” (Luke 22:20) It is not these cups that are the New Testament in my blood, but this cup. For one cup to go round, let the churches share the Holy Communion in smaller unit of house fellowships, rather than in the large church congregations.
