DUTY & RESPONSIBILITY. What is duty? What is responsibility? Our inability to recognize and understand the true meanings of these words is part of the problems leaders & followers have in Nigeria.Let us skip the dictionary meanings of those words & explain them literarily. DUTY is a must task while RESPONSIBILITY is a necessary task. While it is your duty as a law abiding citizen to pay your tax,it is the duty of the government to ensure the tax are not stolen from the national treasury with ghana-must-go bag(s) & that those taxes are well spent on providing amenities & all other things necessary to better the lives of the citizens that are governed.>A MUST TASK. While it is your responsibility as a Nigerian youth to shun hooliganism, thuggery, drug abuse, cyber fraud, prostitution & all other vices & stand up to speak against Corruption in our land & combat the greedy politicians, you may chose not to because it is a NECESSARY task. While a President of a Nation may chose to fight Boko Haram & Kidnappers & in fact employ all the able bodied unemployed graduates &non graduates in the police force,NSCDC,Air force,Navy & all other security agencies without any aptitude test or buying of application forms or whatever just to fish out & combat Boko Haram& Kidnappers. He may chose not to because it is a necessary task.He may even decide to pay an undisclosed sum of money as ransom to Kidnappers if his close relative is kidnapped & lie to the Nation that the relative was freed or rescued or (freed& rescued),nobody can question him,it is his personal life > A NECESSARY TASK. I remembered the good old days of World War I,World war II,Civil war when able bodied youths are abducted & taken to the camp to be enlisted as soldiers by the government. In those days, the government are proud of their youths & their youths are proud of their Nation & are ready to die for their Nation;Government made it mandatory for each able bodied youth as a duty to serve his/her nation.Youths of those days took it upon theirselves as not only their responsibility but their duty to serve the Nation. Today, reverse is the case probably because leaders failed to recognize the difference between duty & responsibility or they are indifferent.Perhaps because followers especially youths failed to recognize or acknowledge their duty & responsibility. Employments into any security agency has now become family chieftaincy title that if one of your relative is not serving presently in the force or you dont know an influential politician like a minister, senator, governor, president or his vice,no way for you. Your key to civil service now is the key to Aso Rock..........hmmmm. Please let us ask ourselves what is my duty & what is my responsibility as Nigerian youth or as a Nigerian leader? HAPPY WEEKEND ABLE COMRADES. To
