Dad: A Man of many hats I remember every hat you ever wore, but I wasnt there to see your last hat come off...too busy you know. Too busy thinking that this man built of timber and rocks would never go down. On the phone telling friends that this man has faced so many battles that there is no way he would fall without a fight, And fight, he did. Im not just talking about the straw and cotton hats...Im talking about the man named George Wayne Coomer, He wore the hats of a wonderful son, a loving husband to my Mom, the rock of our family, father to Max, Melissa and I, your friend, brother, uncle, cousin, someone who loved you and you loved him too. This man would literally jump on an airplane to make you feel better, thats just the way Dad was. One day, while depressed in Ann Arbor, dad and Doc called me to see how my new life away from home was going. I sobbed on the phone-failing classes that were elementary at UofM, best friend roommate harassing me, etc. Doc got on the phone after Dad and said, meet us at the Ann Arbor airport in 1 and 1/2 hours. I took a cab, walked onto the airstrip with both of them arms opened wide. Whisping their arms to walk up to the steps of the airplane, dad said, we came to save you, have drinks aboard, a cooler full, but if you want to help fly this thing, you can have a coke! Worm Riley was flying that day and showed me what to do. Dad and Doc giggled and drank in the back as I flew over Ann Arbor and then our Farm and then we landed and I had the chance to spend one of the best weekends ever with these two. I miss them both tremendously, but I guess they were meant to hang together in the sky watching over us.
