Dad Update: October 24th marked 1 year since my dad had his 3rd bypass surgery. Its been a long journey for all of us and I have learned a lot about his condition and the inefficiencies in our healthcare system. Today he had a Thoracentesis procedure to remove fluid from his lungs. From what I observed they removed about a quart of fluid that evidently has been in there for about a year now. The saddest part is we have spent many trips to the hospital and paid specialists from every field to observe, x-ray, MRI and request test and numerous hospital stays. I helped him months ago while they did an x-ray and I saw the image on the screen. I remember seeing dark areas on both the lower lobes and not only did I tell the technician but also the doctor. Months later Dr. Segal sends for an image and they decide to FINALLY address what I was telling them about. He is doing fine and we even went out for lunch with my brother Steve Martinez. (Thanks for the Obama deal on my meal) Love you!!!
