Dads Army Episode 5 The Drowning of the Waltham Forest Otters The men’s 5ths still on a high from wining all 4 games of the season so far, welcomed the attack of the Waltham Forest Otters!! With Harry Boy Pike and Private Frazer Matt Waldie on covert mission Uni shopping, it was a welcome back to Simon Hadley and Jack Tyson to help fill the void. As the game started, and Bob Ward still in shock from being selected to start, Witham saw a lively forest apply some early pressure which meant Witham keeper Wiseman had to put his kindle down and deal with a few early shots with the defensive line of Ward Avery and Bedingfield also having to defend their D, once settled Witham played some good hockey, using the triangles to get the ball in the D for an early goal. The pressure mounted for the otters, with the midfield of Ledwell B, Handley, Barber and Burns getting the ball to the frontline of Lawrence Bellehewe and Jack Tyson to add more goals before half time, at the halfway stage Witham had a 5-0 lead. As the game resumed the Otters attacked in numbers with nothing to lose and played with all 10 outfield players in Witham’s half which saw Witham have to defend in numbers to push the assault back, with forest winning some short corners the defence again had to deal with some pressure now helped by Andy Wiffin. With this spell of attack silenced Witham pushed on with Pickop now up front trying to increase the score line, it wasn’t long before the goals started coming again for Witham and Witham cruised to a final score of 10-0 Goal scorers Tyson x5 Burns x1 Lawrence x1 Handley x1 Bellehewe x1 Barber x1 MOM Jack Tyson The Otters Did Not Like It Up EM!! Well worked defensive short corners paid off, and uncle Kev Bellehewe asking that no one panic during the Otters 2nd half attack.
