Dads Thursday meeting went pretty darn good again today!! Nursing said he continues to improve. They continue to do wound care on his right hand until his appt. Aug. 7th in Iowa City. There goal is to still keep him at Finely and get discharged the morning of the 7th and go straight to Iowa City from there. This all depends on Insurance though. Still waiting for that.....PT said he continues to improve. He is a very motivated guy, which we already know. Played some kickball today for the first time & it was a little hard since anything new to him takes some time. Walking over 200ft with a walker and did it with out the knee cage today. May not need that on a permanant basis. They would like mom to bring in her car to practice transfers and also wants her to sit in on the PT sessions so she can start working with dad on her own. OT said the same, continues to improve daily. Suggested getting a bench at home for in the shower for dad to use until he is able to step over the side of the tub. Speech said he is doing well. Needs to work on comprehension and us as family/friends need to help him when he gets confused. TIME & PATIENCE :-) Speech also recommended getting dad a Lingraphica, kind of like an IPAD that will allow Dad to work on his therapy on his own. They can get him one for a trial and then they can purchase this if he likes it. Everything right now is a waiting game for insurance and Stone Hill is still there as a back up right now but OT and PT were pretty confident that us as a family would be able to get dad home. They said mom already does most of the stuff now on her own anyway. So please keep up the prayers that home is in the near future and insurance will cover until Aug. 7th. Thanks again to everyone.
