Daily Devotions - September 1, 2014 OUR GREATEST REFUGE For ye have need of patience, that after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. HEBREWS 10:36 God is our greatest refuge. When every earthly support system fails, God remains steadfast and His love remains unchanged. When we encounter lifes inevitable disappointments and setbacks, God remains faithful. When we suffer losses that leave us breathless, God is always with us, always ready to respond to our prayers, always working in us and through us to turn tragedy into triumph. Its like when a mother has a baby and the baby cries day and night. You find out he/she has colic. For you mothers, you know how nerve wrecking that can be and you also feel the pain for your baby. You hold your baby close to your chest and pace the floor, back and forth all da and night, holding her/his hurting little tummy close against you. For the baby, he/she finds the same refuge in you as you find in Jesus. Your baby has found relief in your arms, a sense of peace and security. This is the same refuge you will find in Jesus. He will take your pains and problems and hold you close to Him until you feel the pain lifted and you feel the same sense of security. Gods love is like that of a mothers, never dying and never ending, unconditional. In preparing my devotion today I came across an observation made by Patsy Clairmont, an author and motivational speaker. She said If youre walking toward Jesus to the best of your ability, He will see you through lifes unpredictable waters - but you must risk launching the boat. Thats sound advice, because even during lifes most difficult days, God stands by us. Our job is to return the favor and stand by Him. Dear Lord, You are my Shepherd. You care for me, You comfort me, watch over me and You have saved me. I will praise You, Father, for Your glorious works, for Your protection, Your love and for Your Only Son, Jesus Christ our Savior. AMEN Hope you have had a great and Blessed Labor Day weekend. God loves each and everyone of you.
