Daily Dose of Gratitude: December 2nd, 2014: Im uber grateful for the life and legacy of iconic saxophonist, Bobby Kees. Kees passed away earlier today in Tennessee. His life ranged from playing on stage with Buddy Holly in gymnasiums to taking on myriad session performances with the Rolling Stones, John Lennon, the Plastic Ono Band, and many others over the next +50 years. Kees found creativity, ingenuity, and especially fun intensity within almost all of his songs. As an ever learning saxophone player myself, Kees undoubtedly provided material and motivation to make for years of saxophonic serendipity. In an effort to honor Kees, there is no song of his in my opinion quite like his work with John Lennon on Whatever Gets You Through the Night.
