Daily Living with Kong Hee Becoming a Champion If you have ever watched any of the Olympic Games, you would have seen on display athletes conditioned to be at the top of their game, competing against other similar athletes from all parts of the world. Every one of them were excellent at their respective sports, but their proficiency didn’t come without lots of sacrifice, dedication and hard work! Take gold-medal sprinter Usain Bolt for example. Do you think he simply got up one day and said, “I want to run in the Olympics,” and went on to win the gold medal without much effort? No! It took years of training and discipline! As Christians, we should desire to be the very best at living our lives. And like the example of the Olympians, we can’t expect to simply stand up one day and say, “I’m going to be a champion at life.” No, we have to endure training and discipline as well! This is what the author of Hebrews had in mind when he wrote, “Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it” (Heb. 12:11). God disciplines us. And while that discipline may sometimes be unpleasant during the moment, it will help us to lead righteous and victorious lives if we choose to learn from it! While suffering and hardship may not be from God though He allows it, discipline does comes directly from God with the expressed purpose of guiding us toward righteous living. So if you want to be a true son or daughter of God, submit to His discipline and allow it to train you into a champion at life! Prayer for the day: Lord, I pray and submit to Your discipline, knowing it will take me to a higher level of living and form me into a champion at life!
